NPR airs a story on the Mennonite Church’s recent interest in “reaching out” to the Hyattsville Mennonite Church. Hyattsville was “sanctioned” by the Allegheny Mennonite Conference in 2003 when it was found out that the church welcomes gay and lesbian members
As I understand Biblical discipline, it’s used for the purpose of bringing people back together again eventually, and this has been seven years that we’ve been working with Hyattsville under this discipline. It just seems right to the leadership council that it’s time that we look at reconciliation.
- Donna Mast, conference minister for Allegheny Mennonite Conference
